CREAMY TZATZIKI
If you live in the western country, you most likely have tried tzatziki. It is a yogurt based dip/sauce found in the Mediterranean and Middle East, sometimes under different names or in slightly different forms.
Tzatziki is often served with grilled meats and gyros especially in Greek cuisines. Let me tell you, when I make my grilled chicken souvlaki, this tzatziki is a must! Or, just simply, dip it with my greek roasted potatoes or my greek pita bread as it pairs so wonderfully together! But, you can pair tzatziki with so many other dishes like just plain grilled vegetables!
Not only it is delicious and healthy, it’s very simple to make! Having a dip with a lot of flavor can enhance your entire meal. I really cannot emphasize how awesome this recipe is!
I hope you will enjoy!

CREAMY TZATZIKI RECIPE
prep time: 15 minutes
portion: 5-6 servings
INGREDIENTS
2 cups (500g) full-fat greek yogurt (griechischer Sahnejoghurt)
1 large cucumber, peeled, deseeded, and grated
a handful of fresh dill, finely chopped
2 small shallots, finely minced
2 large garlic cloves, pressed or finely minced
1 tbsp white wine vinegar (red wine vinegar substitute)
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper
DIRECTIONS
First, peel and using a teaspoon deseed the cucumber. Grate the cucumber and sprinkle some salt on them and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to draw out the water. Then squeeze out as much of water from the cucumber using a cheese cloth or a kitchen towel. If you don’t have a cheesecloth, squeeze it out using your hands as much as you can.
In a medium sized bowl, combine all the ingredients including the grated and squeezed out cucumber. Give it a taste and add salt and pepper to your desired taste.
Let it sit for at least 15 minutes before serving.
